About Jun
-
Becoming a therapist begins with my curiosity for human behavior and psychology. Friends and family have always seen me as patient, compassionate, and healing. After I studied psychology in college, I became more and more curious about the application of the theory in real-life practice and how the theories help people struggling with mental illness and going through difficult times in life. This led me to pursue a career in the mental health field. I was thrilled to find drama therapy, which seamlessly integrated my passion for psychology with my diverse interests in acting, music, dance, arts, and crafting hobbies. What resonates with me about drama therapy is its unique ability to support and empower individuals through playfulness and spontaneity, contributing to the creation of a happy and fulfilling life. Becoming a therapist is not just a career choice for me; it's a calling rooted in a genuine desire to empower others on their journeys toward well-being.

Based on the biopsychosocial assessment, my intake process focuses on getting a fuller picture of the client, actively listening to their needs from therapy, and creating a safe and non-judgmental space to build a relationship with the client. Progress could be varied. It could be as small as the client having a new insight and as big as the client overcoming their problem. I do not typically assign homework and try to do everything in the session. If I do, I want to make it as easy as making more observations and having more awareness. I like working with clients who are self-aware, open-minded, and desire to grow.

I am continuing building my competency in psychodrama by attending a long-term training group every month. I also will continue learning other modalities by attending new trainings at least 1x/quarter. I am interested in the topic of DBT, IFS, somatic therapy, EMDR, sex therapy, and LGBTQ+ affirmation therapy approaches. I would also have 1:1 and group supervision 1x/week to continue learning from other professionals and discuss difficult situations.

I work with diverse clients populations. I work best with people who would listen and asking questions, who is seeking a sense of well-being, self-growth, and pursuit of happiness.

I hold the perspective that therapy is not the universal solution for eveyone when they try to enhance their well-being, resolve problems, and finding happiness. A lot of people seek help from religious practice, spiritual guidance, and social support. I respect everyone's choice for their own path to find the solution for life. But I personally enjoys learning from multiple sources, not limited to therapy or psychological study.
